School Aged Children

locationSchool aged children will need to be taught how to be independent at school.  Access Technology will become crucial for students with vision impairments to enable them to access the curriuclum and interact with their peers.

Assistance will be needed in the school to support an inclusive environment to learn.  The following will also need to be considered to ensure independence (Stone, 1999):

  • Classroom: seating, working position, display of work, furniture, lighting
  • School yard: staircases, pathways, steps, playgrounds, carparks.
